As someone with ADHD, it makes sense that my career path has been a fascinating, winding road. Every turn has brought me to the present moment, where I place high value on emotional health and healing.Â
I have a degree in Fine Art from the University of Cape Town, where I majored in Painting. In 2012, I studied and worked backstage at The Artscape Theatre in Cape Town. The following year, I began teaching online, and in 2016, the opportunity arose to teach English Speaking at a school in the South of France, close to the city of Bordeaux.
One of the most meaningful parts of my teaching work in France was making authentic, positive connections with the pupils. I led many group projects in interactive classes, where pupils were able to shine with confidence, encouraged by their strengths. I was also fortunate to make a number of special connections in France over the years. One journey I will never forget was a solo trip around the country, in honour of my paternal heritage, from the South of France, to Brittany in the North, the home of my ancestors.
Since returning to Cape Town in 2022, I have continued teaching English as a foreign language to students from various countries around the world. At the same time, I am an author and Fine Artist. I began an Instagram account: Paths4Peace_Creatives, hosting a small, unique community of creatives from around the world. Paths for Peace is a place of love and acceptance for all.
In 2025, I received a late ADHD diagnosis, in my early forties. I had already received accurate diagnoses at younger ages, but this has been a piece of my puzzle which has led to deeper understanding, especially about how I work, enabling me to complete projects.
As someone who is committed to healing, I put great efforts into research and understanding ADHD and how it connects to my history and childhood. In 2026, I completed an ADHD coaching certificate, which has helped me to, not only inform myself and help others, but give insight into certain, future character development in my stories. Even though I am neither a coach nor a psychologist, I do thoroughly enjoy analysis and observation, which informs character building and their narratives.
